Our Town – CANOWINDRA WOMEN’S BOWLING CLUB

Canowindra is an historic township located on the Belubula River in the central west of NSW. Hot air balloons floating overhead have earned us the title “Balloon Capital Of Australia” The weather conditions are usually ideal for balloon flights that give a bird’s eye view of the rolling hills and patchwork paddocks.

One of the great fossil sites in Australia was discovered near the town in 1956 and today ancient fossils of complete fish specimens are showcased in the Age Of Fishes Museum located on the corner of Gaskill and Ferguson Streets. The fossils are supplemented by aquarium displays, permanent exhibitions, gift shop, geological time walk, sculpture garden and outdoor picnic area.

The Community Bowls and Recreation Club is proud of its two well maintained greens and visitors are always welcome. You would be encouraged to try some of the award winning local wines and check out the menu at our Chinese Golden Century Restaurant.  You will find us in Ryall Street.
